The RWG plan
All righty lads?
Anyone still up for, and believe in, our original business model?
In still well up fr doing this, and especially up for smashing a rule book together soon!!
We should get some ~£1-3 mini rule books up on Wargames Valult, get some outrage and hopefully some turnover.
Get in there with some small games, and build on it!
Until we are bollionaires!!!!
Billionaires.... Anyway
Have a think for the next week about whether you or we have an achievable project that we could Actually have finished! I am happy to take care of all the writing and formatting, under direction of the project captain(s)!
I just want to get us out there!

Re: The RWG plan
Would anyone be adverse to a website such as
redwyverngame.company.com?
It usually means we get free hosting and free templates etc.
Much the same way as this forum works '.freeblogspot.com'

Re: The RWG plan
THAT LOOKS IMMENSE!!!!
Seriously, I am back in the zone for this, count me in. The thing I think we need to focus on is sharing the load...I'll be honest; writing a rules book for a-z just isn't in me. I would need you guys' help to get all the aspects, etc, from movement to battle!
Thoughts? Play to our strengths etc?

Re: The RWG plan
Ok, so, I propose the following: we make a subsection on the forum/ somewhere? where we basically talk through the state of our games, what we need to do, e.g. more playtesting, more rules writing, army lists etc, so that we can see how the full project is going and what is pending. Then, once this information is available we can step in and offer to help with various parts of each others projects, e.g. arrange when to test a mechanic, take on some of the writing, get some miniatures painted up so that there are painted armies for a rulebook etc...
Any thoughts?

Re: The RWG plan
I like the idea.
Makes things nice and organised.
Not sure how easy it might be to track games development on a forum, but i'll put together a little sub-forum and we can see how well it works.
I do have an Excel that we can use for more detailed idea of what games are in what stage
this first screen shot hopefully shows a list of games, the status can be changes, but as you can see, one is in the development stage, teh other hasn't been started, it can show 'rulebook design' when we're at that stage and who's in charge/involved.
This screen shot shows the spreadsheet you jump to if you clikc on the game name hyperlink from the first screen shot. it's a little more detailed enabling us to track which part of the game creation we're at and who might be in charge of various parts. . (you can see what i've added) and the smaller subsections that currently say 'code and unit testing' etc can be made to represent what's going on in the seperate phases. i.e.
Rulebook Development Phase
- Rulebook order (chapters etc)
- Layout
- Artwork and cover design
Just something we use to keep track of whats going on at work, might be usefull, I can trim it right back, maybe host it on the website to run along side the forum work so we have a clear cut.. this game is at this stage.. this game is here, who's doing what. to try and sit above the back and forth comments that will be involved in the forum work that tends to maker things hard to track.
Maybe it's a little OTT for this point in our game writing 'careers'.. but it's there if needed

Re: The RWG plan
I'm not sure, but i'll have a look. I think microsoft do 'Sky-something' that is a free cloud system. will check it out.
Re: The RWG plan
Riiight,
Okay. so I think i've got that all sorted and i've created a RedWyvernGames Gmail account
The following email/password enables you to access our Gmail email account as well as microsoft 'SkyDrive' cloud storage.
Addy: redwyverngames@gmail.com
Pass:Freeblogforum fanatic01 (for the immediate future)
To access SkyDrive, you'll need to download the SkyDrive program
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/skydrive/download-skydrive
Once you've done that, sign in using the details from our Gmail account and you'll have access to our Cloud storage.. not sure how big it is, but it doesn't need to be that big. You should hopefully see the Excel Spreadsheet in there called 'RedWyvernGames'. It will create a new folder on your computer called 'SkyDrive' and will have a PC address something similar to this: C:\Users\cmaxwell\SkyDrive
When you want to add new files to our Cloud storage, just add a copy of it into that folder and it'll instantly upload.
There is a iPhone/iPad app for SkyDrive, but those of us on Android will have to go to https://skydrive.live.com
This means we will be able to share ALL our documents, be it PDF's of finalised games for Review or Word document for editing or anything else for that matter.
n.b, when it gives you the pre-ticked option to allow you to access files on your PC turn it off, unless you want me to find your porn stash

Re: The RWG plan
We need catagories and subcatagories for this spreadsheet please..
Here's some crude stuff i've devised..
RULES TESTING & PLAY TESTING
- Enough rules to play a game
- Conducted at least 5 play tests
- All parties agree it's ready for development
RULEBOOK DEVELOPMENT PHASE
- All the rules are together
- Rules properly organised into correct catagories/contents
- Spelling/Grammer and general 'Does it make sense' is completed.
- Artwork, Design and publishing takes place
- Layout/Organisation and general 'Does it look nice' is completed
SET LIVE
- Prepped to ship to RPGVault/Wargames Vault
- Shipped to RPGVault/Wargames Vault
ADVERTISEMENT
- Warseer/RedWyvern (Website-Forum-Blog)/TMP/Anywhere else
Please let me know if you think there should be any more catagories and 'sub-catagories' or if you think any of the above should be removed. once we're all agreed on that, i can properly format this spreadsheet.
